People often ask why I chose the name Bitterroot Mercies. The answer begins with a little wildflower. The bitterroot is Montana's state flower. It doesn't grow in rich gardens or perfect soil; instead, it thrives among rocks, wind, drought, and difficult places. Yet somehow, year after year, it blooms with remarkable beauty. I think that's a lot like people. None of us are finished. None of us have it all figured out. We carry scars, make mistakes, ask hard questions, and sometimes wonder if we're growing at all. But God's mercy has a way of meeting us right where we are—not after we've become who we hope to be but while we're still becoming. That's what Bitterroot Mercies is about. These aren't stories written from the finish line; they're written from the middle of the journey. You'll find stories of faith and doubt, marriage and family, business and burnout, Montana mornings, laughter around the table, unexpected loss, and ordinary days that quietly reveal God's goodness. Some stories won't end with neat answers because I'm still living them. I'm still learning. I'm still growing. I'm simply inviting you to walk alongside me. My hope isn't to offer a blueprint for a perfect life. It's to remind us that God is faithful in the unfinished places—that His mercies don't wait until we've arrived. They meet us in the middle of the mess, in the middle of the questions, and in the middle of becoming. Maybe that's why the bitterroot speaks to me so deeply. It doesn't bloom because the ground is easy; it blooms because that's what it was created to do. I hope these pages encourage you to notice the mercies growing in your own rocky places and perhaps to find the courage to keep becoming the person God is shaping you to be.
